I’ve been using this app for a few months now, and I’ve just become a paid member.

In the era of Threads and social media where true journaling is dead (it seems like people now write to be recognized), this has been a breath of fresh air. Because nobody else is going to read it, I tend to focus more on what I want to write and what’s going through my mind rather than what others might think of me or the grammar. This is a truly unique product that helps get everything out of your mind.

Why is journaling beneficial for mental health?

The benefits of journaling have been scientifically noted since 1986. In a study by Pennebaker & Beall (1986), it was discovered that students randomly assigned to write about traumas for 15 minutes a day over four days ended up visiting the student health center about 50% less over the next six months compared to students in the control condition. In 2008, Burton and King examined the effects of expressive writing for just 2 minutes per day over two days. They found that even these brief writing sessions led to improved mood and psychological well-being. More recently, a study by Adams, Ohren, and Hudson on digital journaling involved 177 participants over a month. They found that 68% of respondents in the study cited "clarity and insight on difficult issues" as a significant benefit of digital journaling.
